WORLD WIDE WEB (WWW)

-Consists of a worldwide collection of electronic document 
-Called a Web Page which can contain text, graphics, animation, audio and video
-visitors to a static web page see all the same content
-visitors to dynamic web page, can customize some or all of a viewed content such as desired stock quotes, weather foe a region or ticket availability for flights.

*WEB SITE: a collection of related web pages and associated items, (document and picture)

*WEB SERVER: delivers requested web pages to your computer
*WEB 2.0: to share personal information, allow user to share information, allow users to modify web site content and have application software built into the site for visitor to use.





E-MAIL

what is email:
- short for electronic mail
- transmission of message and files via computer network
*UNIQUE NAME THAT CONSISTS OF A USER NAME AND DOMAIN NAME THAT IDENTIFIES THE USER


INSTANT MESSAGING (IM)
-a real time internet communication service that notifies you when one or more people are online and allows you to exchange message or files or join a private chat room with them.

VOICE OVER INTERNET PROTOCOL


- to place internet telephone call

- need a high speed internet connection
- VoIP services are also available on some mobile services that have wireless internet service




MESSAGE BOARD
- type of discussion group
-you can leave and expect to see responses to message you have left.


FILE TRANSFER PROTOCOL
- user have to transfer webpage files from their local machine to the server
- is a computer that allows users to upload and/or download file using FTP
- FTP site is a collection of file including text,, graphics, audio clips and program files that reside on an FTP server
